Track Name: Midwest
the shoes hanging from that wire tell me that
i'm somewhere new, i'm somewhere different
to where i've been before

red canvas and white laces
stain the deepened pale blue sky
7pm on a summer's day, i'm sure

oh your perfect life, your perfect teeth
rip up the road with a few four wheels and a wooden board
take me to the lazy days i'm wanting more and more

maybe love would be simpler to find in the midwest out the door

maybe love would be simpler to find

oh, maybe love would be simpler to find in the midwest out the door
Track Name: Alone
i've never been so afraid to be alone
now my friends have left for summer
i'm left with just my skin and bones

and thought i know that in a few weeks i'll see them again
my mind still wanders down through the stone
and into hell

the warmth has formed a haze around my head
a tomb, a cave, a case, a shell
as i buy my milk and bread

and though i feel the heat i can't
warm up my lungs to breath
oh well, oh well

i check the clock, not a minute has passed, oh well
my phone rings, but i don't pick it up, oh well
i'm lost in a sea of time and i forgot what day it was a week ago
can you help me remember?
i saw you dreamings, your eyes all aglow

i've never been more at home to be alone
now my friends have left for summer
i take comfort in my skin and bones
Track Name: Puzzle Box
the dying light on the radio and the static in the trees
the warmth runs from the lantern to the box upon my knees
the box it tries to trick me, it lies, it lies, it lies
i feel for its illusion, i fell for its disguise
oh i wish, i wish, i wish that i were wise
Track Name: Paddling Pools and 1965
it smelled of paddling pools and 1965
as i drive through the country and question my life
and i stop to take a photo with my camera full of film
but the film ran out, so i take it with my eyes
but the back of my eyes are tattoed with the lines
that lead me home, my home between the vines

i pull into the driveway and i switch the engine off
but the wheels keep a-turning, and they don’t seem keen on stopping
so i get out of the car so i can check under the hood
and what i find inside shocked me more than it should
it’s a tangle of roots and leaves, a tangle in my mind
just outside the home i keep these days, my home between the vines

i try to prune the leaves but the blades are hammered dull and i
can’t rip out the roots cuz they’re rooted in my skull and the
vines grow all around me and inside me in my lungs so i
burn them to the ground but from the ashes they’ll return

singing songs you can’t go wrong
you take my hand and prove me wrong

singing songs you can't go wrong
you take my hand and prove me wrong

singing songs you can't go wrong
you take my hand and prove me wrong

i wave farewell for time will tell as
i drive by i sing my song
Track Name: What I Left
a picture without my face
smiling eyes and baby grace
the company that i left behind

their voice remembers me
my name rings out, i bare my soul
but only in my mind
only in my mind

happiness in relatives
but i can't help but wander through the door
of my father's girlfriend's home

strength in my decisions
confidence in my convictions
opinions split in two
by the fiction and the true

left this life for something real
content with my choice leaving you
comply with growth and change
a smile in my eyes
Track Name: What I Left, But Acoustic
a picture without my face
smiling eyes and baby grace
the company that i left behind

their voice remembers me
my name rings out, i bare my soul
but only in my mind
only in my mind

happiness in relatives
but i can't help but wander through the door
of my father's girlfriend's home

strength in my decisions
confidence in my convictions
opinions split in two
by the fiction and the true

left this life for something real
content with my choice leaving you

a smile in my eyes
